The Dookits Swim Walk

Walk along this beautiful stretch of river in the last of the autumn colour, through water meadows, woodland and under Neipath Castle to the iconic Peebles swim spot 'The Dookits' for a guided swim in the beautiful River Tweed.

Manor Bridge - Scotland, United Kingdom

Starting at Manor Bridge we will walk downstream through rich water meadows, passing under the magnificent Neidpath Castle and through craggy woodland with fantastic views back up the River Tweed to the iconic Dookits swim spot on the edge of Peebles. This stretch of river is home to dippers, kingfishers and elegant herons.

At the Dookits we'll get changed and you will be guided safely into the water and we will swim together, playing with the flow and magic of the place before warming up with our wild foraged tea made on a kelly kettle and homemade cake and returning the way we came.

Total distance around 4kms or 2.5miles.

  • Sturdy footwear for walking on muddy and rocky ground.
  • Your personal swim kit, including towel.
  • Footwear to protect your feet in the water is essential, watershoes, old trainers or sandals.
  • Plenty of warm layers for after the swim including a woolly hat even if it is a warm sunny day. I suggest one more layer than you think you'll need.
  • We will use tow floats in the river so please bring one if you have one or I can lend you one on the day.
  • Please pack kit in a back pack for ease of carrying.

Wild foraged tea and homemade cake.

Loan of tow float if required.

Manor Bridge
Not suitable for complete wild swim beginners. You need to be comfortable to walk 2.5miles on an uneven path, with steps and rocky and often muddy sections.
