Peebles Wild Swim Adventure
Within a few minutes walk of Peebles town centre you feel like you are in a different land, a place where you can slow down in nature, walk through woods and meadows, under a Borders Castle, watch the local inhabitants of the River Tweed and dip in its beautiful waters. Join me for a half day wander, foraging for our wild tea ingredients on the way to warm us up after a wild swim in this iconic river.
You will leave feeling you've had a truly restorative adventure in nature.
Starting right in the heart of Peebles town we will head along the River Tweed through woodland where there is an option of walking through a disused Victorian railway tunnel (torches are provided) to a spectacular viaduct. Here we will turn downstream and walk back towards the town through the meadows passing under the magnificent Neidpath Castle and identifying and foraging ingredients for our wild tea.
Besides a beautiful pool in the river we will stop for a wild swim. You will be guided safely into the water and we will swim together, playing with the flow and magic of the place before warming up with our wild foraged tea made on a kelly kettle and homemade cake.
We will be outside for the whole session and we are in Scotland so please come with suitable waterproof clothing and good foot wear.
In addition please bring:
- Your personal swim kit, including towel.
- Footwear protect your feet in the water is essential, watershoes, old trainers or sandals.
- Plenty of warm layers for after the swim including a woolly hat for after the swim even if it is a warm sunny day.
- We will use tow floats in the river so please bring one if you have one or I can lend you one on the day.
- Please pack kit in a back pack for easy carrying and to leave your hands free for foraging.
